Rock Hunting
We were blessed with an “Indian Summer” this fall when temperatures went back into the 70’s after being in the 50’s. The sunshine was beautiful, but I’m such a fall/cold weather person that I would have been happy just staying in the 50’s. Oh well! Since we had beautiful weather, we played outside a lot and did a homeschool hike that turned into a Halloween-rock-hiding-hike. So much fun!
Did I ever tell you about the time I gave painted rocks for Christmas gifts??? My family will never let me live that down. Ha! I was a poor law school student and thought it would a nice gift if I gathered rocks from Lake Michigan while on summer vacation and painted them according to each person’s personality. Ever since then, I’ve been known as a rock painter 🙂
Anyways, since we were going hiking at a local park, Char Mar, we decided to paint some rocks for Halloween and hide them along the trail. With so many people exploring nature lately, especially during this warm weather, we thought it would be fun for other kids to have a little rock hunt while hiking. Eli wasn’t so much into painting them, but Ava and I enjoyed it, so at least I have one rock painting protege 🙂
